Rapids St. would like to welcome Dr. Robert Domokos, Interim Pastor
Dr. Domokos left the pastorate to teach at Faith, but he never stopped being a shepherd. For more than 30 year now he has shepherded men whom God has called to the pastorate. He used his shepherding skills in a different role when he served as president of Faith for five years. In addition, Dr. Domokos has served as interim pastor about 35 times in churches in Iowa. That kind of real-time experience gives helps him keep current with churches today. Dr. Domokos and his wife, Shirley, live in Ankeny.

WEEKLY “HEART TO HEART”
Sometimes I get the feeling that many people are just plain bored. What do you think? Am I correct? Do you understand what I mean? Let me explain.
People get bored with their jobs; they get bored with their houses; they get bored with their cars, they get bored with eating the same kind s of food. And, some Christians even get bored with Christianity. I think one reason for this is that they do the same things over and over without realizing the significance and the meaning behind them. One of these could be your worship. At Rapids Street Baptist Church we worship pretty much the dame way each week, but it never gets boring to me. Why not? Primarily because we enjoy the spirit of exalting Christ and singing hymns of praise. We also realize for the reason of our togetherness, namely, for God’s glory and our spiritual benefit. It is a blessing me personally, to gather with these folks in simple worship, singing, prayer, fellowship and mutual encouragement from God’s on a weekly basis.
Let me state further we have a desire to learn and experience a fresh blessing from God each week. We desire to be present wit others believers. We desire to impart joy to others. It is by design and desire that we gather, and it is not because we must do it. That, I believe, makes all the difference.
I am very fortunate that I seldom get bored. My diet varies, my daily activity varies, my routine of exercise varies, the involvement with friend and neighbors varies; my devotional reading varies. Think of the many kinds of weather we have in a week’s time. That varies.
I still find myself (even at my age) anxious to awake and start my day. I do this every day. I still enjoy my coffee in the morning. I still enjoy going to work (if you call teaching work) every day. In fact, I feel sorry for people who are bored. To be honest, I don’t understand that at all.
Boredom had caused some people to do some thing illegal things, unethical things, harmful things, and even self-destructing things? Why? Could it be that they do not realize that every day is a gift from God, with His enablement and blessing? Could it be that they rare overly self-focused rather than God-focused?
My God is not bored, nor is He boring. He is interested in you and your interests. Talk to Him today about your life. He hears us when we pray, and understands us when we are confused. He’s my friend, and I’d like you to know Him. Let me know if I can be of help.
