Dr. Domokos left the pastorate to teach at Faith, but he never stopped being a shepherd. For more than 30 year now he has shepherded men whom God has called to the pastorate. He used his shepherding skills in a different role when he served as president of Faith for five years. In addition, Dr. Domokos has served as interim pastor about 35 times in churches in Iowa. WEEKLY “HEART TO HEART”
I love this season of the year. “I: enjoy the beautiful colors, and I enjoy the cool crisp weather, I am intrigued by the farmers and the harvest time.. I could watch them with their huge machines for hours, if I had the time . Of course, being a former farm boy I would find enjoyment in driving through the country and seeing the pumpkins and fall produce. There are the days I wish thus season would never end, but that is not possible. The seasons come and go.
Spiritually, the harvest season will not last forever either. The Bible says there is a time to plant and a time to harvest. There is a time to work and a time to rest. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent. As we watch the fall season pass, we need to remember that there are times for us to bring in the produce for winter’s use. I, recall how we put away potatoes, carrots, squash, apple, and other things to enjoy during the winter. My mother canned fruit and vegetables. Our “cold celler” was packed with good things to eat. We butchered meat for the smoke house, like ham, sausage, pork chops, bacon and other delicacies. Those were tasty items, to say the least.
We would haul coal and fill the basement coal bin. We would cut wood for the furnace and the kitchen stove. We would put machines and tools away for the winter. My Father and mother stayed in most of the time during the snow and cold. But, oh how we would long for the springtime to come again.
Spiritually, there is a time to plant the seed (the gospel, the good news of God’s grace), and there is a time to allow the Holy Spirit to apply it to people hearts. There also is a time to reap. We, at Rapids Street Baptist Church desire to plant the seed (God’s Word) and also to nurture the crop as it grows.
Perhaps you have been pondering the matter of your eternal destiny. We preach and teach the Bible, not religious system. Are you interested ? Do you have any questions with which we may help you? Why not contact us by way of phone or email. Why not come to one of the services and check us out?
If your mind is curious and your heart is craving something substantive to grab onto, why not let us know? We want to minister to you.

Dear Church members,
Thank you so very much for all of your prayers that we needed and were appreciated
He is rejoicing in the presences of his loving Lord and I am happy for Him and would not wish him back even though I miss him.
Thank you all for the plants you sent while he was in the hospital and following his graduation to Heaven.
In Christian love,
In the Psalms, it tells us that the angel rejoice when death of one of the saint’s. The Bible also reminds us that we are escorted to Heaven by angels. It also tells us that
there are no tears or pain or illness in Heaven. Praise God for all the promises that He gives us.
A Christmas Thought
Christ Jesus was born in a stable-
A birthplace of humble degree,
So that no one could say, “I am poor”,
More lacking in comforts, than He.”
His mother in swaddling bands wrapped Him,
The wardrobe of One, the Divine,
That no one could say of his raiment,
“Christ’s garments were better than mine.”
His home and His comforts were borrowed-
No pillow for resting His head!
But He lived, and suffered, and sorrowed,
To give us true comforts instead.
In glory His wealth had been boundless!
He laid all those riches aside,
That we might have riches eternal,
And with Him forever abide.

Rapids Street Baptist Church was originally named, Grace Baptist.
It began as an outreach by First Baptist Church of Perry under the direction of their Pastor, Lawrence Bong.

On March 12,1953, the new group of believers voted to join the “Regular Baptist Fellowship”. Mr. Lenonard moved that Mrs. Veva Wright act as secretary-treasure. David Leonard was voted as moderator.
On March 15, following an evening service, a business meeting was called to vote on asking Elwin Colson as their first Pastor, and he accepted the call. His salary was to be $50.00 a month.
Dr. Robert Ketcham, helped the group write a constitution for the newly formed church. Meetings were first held in the then location of the American Legion Hall, The rent was 10.00 a month. They meet there until 1957 when a new building was constructed on the present site. Everyone helped build it. Dr. Ketcham came to help with the dedication.
Under the leadership of Pastor St. Lawernce, the name was changed form Grace Baptist to its present name , Rapids Street Baptist Church.
